Livescan Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting has long been a crucial tool in the field of law enforcement because it enables accurate identification. In recent years, the introduction of the Livescan fingerprinting system has revolutionized the way in which fingerprints are taken, allowing for even more accurate and efficient processing of fingerprint data.

The Livescan system is a digital fingerprinting technology that captures high-resolution images of fingerprints using electronic sensors. This technology is faster and more accurate than traditional ink-and-paper fingerprinting methods, making it a valuable tool for law enforcement agencies and other organizations that require accurate identification and background checks.

The Livescan system works by capturing an electronic image of a subject’s fingerprints, which is then analyzed and processed by a computer algorithm. This process allows for faster and more accurate identification of people and the creation of a digital record of their fingerprints for future reference.

One of the key advantages of Livescan fingerprinting is its speed and accuracy. With traditional ink-and-paper fingerprinting, prints can sometimes be smudged or incomplete, making it more difficult to accurately identify a suspect. With Livescan, however, the electronic sensors capture high-quality images of fingerprints that are much more detailed and accurate, leading to fewer errors and more reliable identification.

Another advantage of Livescan fingerprinting is its ease of use. Unlike traditional fingerprinting methods, which can be messy and time-consuming, Livescan is a quick and clean process that can be completed in a matter of minutes. This makes it ideal for use in high-volume settings such as law enforcement agencies and border checkpoints.

In addition to its use in law enforcement, Livescan fingerprinting has also found applications in other areas, such as employment background checks and airport security. Many employers now require job applicants to undergo fingerprinting as part of the background check process, and Livescan technology has made this process faster and more reliable.

Livescan fingerprinting has also been used in the creation of biometric passports, which use fingerprint data to provide a high level of security and prevent fraud. By using electronic sensors to capture high-quality fingerprint images, passport agencies can create more secure documents that are much more difficult to counterfeit.

Overall, Livescan fingerprinting has revolutionized the way in which fingerprints are processed, allowing for faster, more accurate identification of suspects and the creation of reliable digital records. As technology continues to advance, it is likely that Livescan and other digital fingerprinting technologies will play an even greater role in law enforcement and other fields.

At Speedy Fingerprinting we use a Livescan system to capture clients’ fingerprints. We typically transfer those prints to a card using a laser printer. Many agencies that specify “ink” fingerprints really mean printed and we find that they accept a laser printed card. We can also transfer your prints to an electronic fingerprint transmission (EFT) file for submission to the ATF or to the DoD SWFT system. If you need an FBI or Florida background check we can transmit your fingerprint file directly to them. In both cases the background check is usually completed within 48 hours.
